"JerseyMark you got to cut her some slack because she has two of the coolest hippie songs to ever get F.M. airplay."

I'm not saying Joan isn't a great talent (which IMHO she is). I'm just questioning what's stated in her Bio, that says she was a "member of The Grateful Dead". She never was.
If anything, you can make an argument that Bruce Hornsby was a member of the Grateful Dead.

Agreed.

But if you DID include Joan, might as well toss in the other Joan. Baez that is.

Speaking of the warbling one, I'm now thinking that I've found the source of Donna's sonic wormholes. She might have looked at Baez and thought "Hell, I can top that train wreck". And so began the time referred to as "The Great Throttling" among those in the cat world.

Hey SomeDarkHollow;

The only other musician who annoys me as much as Joan Baez is Paul Kanter solo.

Hornsby - no
Osborne - no

Please understand that I am not disparaging the talent of either of the individuals listed above. I feel they are both very talented entertainers. They were simply never "members" of the Grateful Dead. In fact, Joan performed with Phil Lesh and Friends and The Dead, but never with the Grateful Dead.

my information comes form a reputable source

It's because of that silly accordion? L0L

I bet there were some legal issues because I know some of his music was off limit.
I had the feeling the record exec's did not think the Dead stuff was good for his top 40 / easy listening genre.
I still hear 'The Way it is' regularly in my local Supermarket from their buy our stuff we are playing good music stream.
Tell me all that you know and I will still refer you to the 'Valley Road' and the European Tour 90.(also the shows before it [especially MSG run] and the shows after [especially Denver]
All I can say is that he functioned as a member of the Grateful Dead and when he stopped functioning as a member of the Grateful Dead we found out (IMO) just how lame Vince was in the mix.
Maybe I will just call him a fellow traveler!

extended stay guest artist

It is said that Bruce was offered band membership, and turned it down.

Yes, that sounds like the deal and it is really too bad because when he was on the piano he could get Jerry going in a very good way.
Although if you think about it what would you need to be a member of the Grateful Dead for;
Discount at Disney Land?
Secret decoder ring?
Free Drug of choice for life? (platinum member only)

And if you were to be a member of the Grateful Dead, would you think twice about taking the job of keyboardist. Isn't that kinda like being the drummer in Spinal Tap. Unless of course your name happens to be Tom Constanten.

Joan rocks. What a stupid post. NO she was NOT a
member of The Grateful Dead, but she has soul, and has sung
and hung with The Dead. Chalk this down as the dumbass
thread of 2014 so far. Luckily, we are only in the first week.

Just for you, craven. Undoubtedly Ms Osborne is one of the finest, sassiest, sexiest singers around - just keep to yourself whatever you might be doing with your right hand while you watch this.

Holy haggis. That took 2 hands to watch...
I see the rabbit hole ahead. As far as youtube, not
animal rape~ Just for clarification

I was gonna correct the spelling, but I thought I should
wait for the proper authorities: See~ you.

Sounds like you started the new year off well. Hope the
rest of the year goes as well as the dram over the tongue for you, and yours (maybe minus the dram for some)

Dammit, now lm gonna be watching Joan all day instead of listening to the GD.

Not a bad day...

Lighten up Francis.

I too really like Joan Osborn. Fantastic singer. I think we're just arguing whether or not she can be listed as a member of the Grateful Dead based solely on her time with the post-Jerry version, not because of her talent.

Now as for Joan Baez, I AM bashing her.

Happy 2014, SDH. Hope your prospects are good for the coming year. Mine started with the opening of a bottle of quarter cask Laphroaig - I fear everything else may prove a disappointment...

True. After climbing Everest, everything else would seem like an anthill.

Cheers to you, good sir. May the coming year hold more positives than negatives.

Yeah. They (vags) charge too much.
Location location location. Plus, singing from her
diaphragm would take on a completely different meaning.
Still mouth, still month to month
